Question: Do you need to know how to swim? This simple answer is Yes you do. You will also need to be able to tread water for 10 minutes by either floating or treading.
To enroll in a PADI Open Water Diver course (or Junior Open Water Diver course), you must be 10 years old or older. You need adequate swimming skills and need to be in good physical health. No prior experience with scuba diving is required.
What will you learn?
The PADI Open Water Diver course consists of three main phases over 2 weekends:
- Knowledge Development (independent study & classroom) to understand basic principles of scuba diving
- Confined Water Dives to learn basic scuba skills
- Move in the water with ease
- Breathe normally underwater
- Achieve neutral buoyancy
- Learn to enter and exit the water with ease
- Clear your mask and keep water out
- Open Water Dives to use your skills and explore!
What this course includes
Course fees cover the cost of your PADI elearning student kit. Rental gear provided includes: tanks, buoyancy compensator (BCD), regulator, dive computer, gauges, and weights. When you have completed training, you will receive your PADI open water certification card.
What you need to purchase
In addition to course fees, you'll need to purchase your mask, fins, snorkel, and booties. These are personally fitted for your comfort at our shop. Open water park, travel or lodging fees are also not included.
